Belated Ode to Vietnam

Vietnam, Vietnam,
Ancient monuments of cham,
From Hanoi to Hoi An,
Is the threat of durian

Buy from me, buy from me,
A box of "la vache qui rit",
From Sapa to Ho Chi Minh,
Motos belching gasoline

In the Mekong Del-ta,
You are gonna swel-ter,
Though you'll always find some shel-ter,
in
Vietnam, Vietnam....

Cross the street, cross the street,
You will get knocked off your feet,
From Lao Cai to Cu Chi,
Traffic as crazy as can be

A million dong, million dong,
is going for a song,
from Chau Doc to Halong,
Calculating dollars takes too long

In the stinky night bus,
are you on the right bus?
keep your bags in sight bus,
in
Vietnam, Vietnam......

Main Street bus
Are you the right bus
Didn't your Mom warn you about sitting on the back of the bus
The guy wearing the helmet in the back seat was not a cyclist
He was not turning away to open the package of some new lock
Was he snuffing weed
Was he huffing in that plastic bag
If only the guy on the opposite side could see what was going on
If only you had eyes on the side of your head
Thank goodness his stop was 27th avenue
