Another uneventful flight - ho hum (hurrah). Hong Kong airport is a long weaving arch of glass and metal in the shape of a dragon (as seen from the air). Thankfully, our gate was one of the dragon's wings rather than the tail, so a slightly shorter walk. Arrived at sunset in Hanoi, light enough to see the results of one of the worst flooding in decades, fields of water and rivers overflowed their banks. Thankfully, Hanoi was dry, amazing that all that water was gone.
Hairaising ride from airport following a 1930s Indochine era Citroen and 5 million motos (motorbikes) all honking and weaving like an untrained set of geese in desperate migration. Checked into backpackers hostel - it's all that we remember: guys getting hammered on $1 vodka shots, girls giggling with a cold beer in one hand and a ciggie in the other - party central. Now this is living!
