Macau is a crazy mix of Vegas, Hong Kong and Portugal.
Grafted on to a bustle old school chinese city is a vegas style strip with a lot of vegas style hotels (Wynn, MGM, Sands, Venetian...) only much BIGGER. They were so huge I got vertigo just by looking up (and up).
To embrace all that was on offer we started with the buffet and slots in the Sands hotel (fantastic buffet - duck, pork, beef, lamb, chicken, prawns, crab and sea whelks). We then walked that off by hitting Macau old town and visiting a mass of churches that were more reminiscent of South America than Asia.
An hours hydrofoil ride back to hong kong got us home for our best nights sleep in several months.

Back in Vancouver it's been non stop rain, but in a good comforting way. Have enjoyed a soak in the tub and have mastered closing the doors upstairs to maximize the coveting of heat.
its a balmy 27 degs here - even Jenny is warm. Luckily for me air-con is violent
